Australian beef cattle industry occupied an area in excess of 200M hectares. These production areas are generally located in the inland & northern areas of Australia and represent one of Australia’s major land users.
Beef production occurs across much of Australia, but is split geographically and physically into six zones. These zones are Northern Region and Southern Region (high rainfall, temperate & pastoral zones and feedlots).
Approximately 80 breeds of cattle:- 10 breeds are most important and 5 of those 10 contribute 60% of the genetics, 87 % of the genetic material is derived from the Bulls
